Israel-Gaza war: Explosions heard and smoke rises as combat resumes

Explosions have been heard and smoke was seen rising in several parts of Gaza, after combat in the region resumed.

Gaza City, Rafah and Khan Younis were among the places hit.

A pause in fighting between Hamas and Israel lasted seven days, during which time 110 hostages held by Hamas and 240 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel were released.
