Providing a cheaper and safer anti-venom for snake bites
Nigeria is home to some of the deadliest snakes in the world and without quick access to anti-venom, their victims can be permanently disabled or die.
The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine is working with the Nigerian Ministry of Health to develop cheaper and safer anti-venoms.
It is a complicated and dangerous process, which involves separating out the most toxic parts of the venom.
The Health Show is broadcast on Saturdays at 10:10 and 20:10 GMT and on Sundays at 07:10 and 23:10 GMT. The programme is supported by the Gates Foundation.
