Afghanistan: Liam Fox sees progress towards goals

Afghanistan is moving towards achieving the goals set by Nato, according to the UK Defence Secretary Liam Fox.

Mr Fox was responding to comments by retired US Army Gen Stanley McChrystal, that the conflict in the country was far from reaching a successful conclusion.

Mr Fox said that civil institutions had vastly improved and the Afghan security forces were increasingly competent at dealing with the Taliban insurgents.
