Obama vows to 'restore' Gulf Coast

US President Barack Obama has promised that the Gulf environment will been "restored" following the BP oil spill, "no matter how long it takes".

His comments came as he visited Florida with his family in an effort to show solidarity with those areas affected by the oil spill.

Meanwhile, BP has said it will press ahead with plans to drill a second relief well to ensure that the blown-out oil well in the Gulf of Mexico is permanently sealed.
