Executed US woman's death 'a tragic loss'

The attorney of Teresa Lewis has described her execution by lethal injection as ''a tragic loss''.

Lewis, who had learning difficulties, was convicted in 2002 for plotting to kill her husband and stepson.

She was the first woman to be put to death in the US for five years and in Virginia since 1912.

Her attorney Jim Rocap addressed reporters after her execution.
