Adaptive optics help peer into cells in brain tissue
Eric Betzig, a researcher at the Janelia Farm Research Campus at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, has applied the use of adaptive optics in his research into deep tissue imaging.
Adaptive optics, which provide much sharper images than traditional imaging techniques, are helping to take images at the level of single cells in the brain.
The advanced imaging technology was originally used to provide sharp photos from spy satellites and astronomical telescopes.
