'Fresh crackdown' in north and east Syria

Demonstrations against President Bashar al-Assad' have taken place in many parts of Syria following Friday prayers.

It is reported security forces opened fire in some areas killing protesters.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called for wider international sanctions on the Syrian government.
