Obama rejects Keystone XL oil pipeline plan

US President Barack Obama has rejected a proposal from a Canadian company to build a huge oil pipeline from Canada to Texas.

Mr Obama said the deadline set by Republicans did not give the government enough time to check the safety of the project, known as the Keystone XL pipeline.
