Barack Obama: 'Economy isn't where it needs to be'

US President Barack Obama and his Republican opponent Mitt Romney have used back-to-back speeches in the battleground state of Ohio to outline their plans for the US economy.

Mr Obama argued that Mr Romney and his Republican allies were using the state of the economy against him instead of engaging with his economic policies.

"Of course the economy isn't where it needs to be," Mr Obama said. "The debate in this election is about how we grow faster and how we create more jobs and how we pay down our debt."
