Aurora survivor: I thought it was fireworks

A survivor of the shootings at a cinema in Aurora, Colorado, which left 12 people dead and dozens injured, has spoken about the attack.

Stephen Parton said that he thought the gun blasts were fireworks, and only realised the seriousness of the incident when he was hit by a bullet.

A man in a gas mask and body armour threw tear gas canisters at a midnight screening of the latest Batman film, then fired on the crowd.

James Holmes, 24, was arrested outside the cinema near Denver, police said.
