Obama and Romney spar over Israel trips

In a heated exchange over their travels abroad, Mr Romney said the president had failed to visit Israel during his 'apology tour' of the Middle East.

The Republican nominee said that decision had been noted by America's biggest ally in the region.

Mr Obama responded by saying that when he did visit Israel he had not gone to meet political donors - a reference to a fundraising trip Mr Romney made earlier this year - but to see the Holocaust museum and hear from victims of rockets fired into Israel by Hamas.
