Sandy sparks fuel and food crisis

The governor of New York state, Andrew Cuomo, has warned that tens of thousands of people whose homes were damaged by Storm Sandy nearly a week ago could need other places to live, as near-freezing temperatures begin to grip the north-east coast of the United States.

Hundreds of thousands of people remain without electricity, and fuel shortages continue.
