Killer whales trapped in Canadian ice stretch

A remote Quebec fishing village asked the Canadian government to help free a dozen killer whales trapped in a vast stretch of ice inside Hudson Bay.

Locals in Inukjuak, 900 miles (1,500km) north of Montreal, said the whales were breathing through a hole in the ice.

Later it was reported that the whales had managed to free themselves.
