World Cup bidding process to be examined

The entire bidding process for the right to host the 2022 football World Cup is to be examined by the man investigating allegations of corruption, the BBC has learned.

Michael Garcia has also warned Fifa, football's governing body, that he will walk away from the job if he feels he cannot work effectively.

The Gulf state Qatar, which won the 2022 World Cup, has always denied any wrongdoing.

The inquiry comes as critics accuse Fifa of blocking a series of proposals for reform.
