US Russian relations under pressure
The US Secretary of State John Kerry is in Moscow for a two-day visit. He met Russian president Vladimir Putin to find a common ground on Syria and persuade Moscow to withdraw its support of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.
But relations between Russia and the US remain strained on many other issues - from human rights to missile-defence systems in Europe. Recently the US government published a list of Russian officials banned from travelling to America because of involvement in the case of Sergei Magnitsky, an anti-corruption lawyer who died in the Russian prison. Moscow, in its turn, has banned US-citizens from adopting children from Russia.
BBC Russian service correspondents have asked people on the streets of Moscow why the two countries find it so difficult to talk to each other.
