Kidnap suspect Ariel Castro's daughter 'devastated'

The daughter of the man accused of imprisoning three women for about a decade in the US city of Cleveland has broken down in tears during a morning TV interview.

"I would have to say I'm really disappointed, embarrassed, mainly devastated about the whole situation," Arlene Castro told ABC News' Good Morning America.

Ms Castro was walking home from school with Gina DeJesus in April 2004 just before she disappeared, aged 14.

"I would like to say [to Ms DeJesus], I am so, so sorry," a tearful Ms Castro said. "I really want to see you and I want you to meet my kids. I'm so, so sorry."

Her father, 52-year-old Ariel Castro, is charged with kidnap and rape.
