Snowden still in hiding after new claims US 'hacked' China

Former CIA contractor Edward Snowden has made new allegations that the US government has been hacking computers in mainland China and Hong Kong for years.

He made the latest claims, published in the South China Morning Post, in an interview at an undisclosed Hong Kong location.

Mr Snowden said he believed there had been more than 61,000 NSA global hacking operations which targeted powerful "network backbones".

The allegations have been widely reported on China Central Television and other mainland state-run media.
