Ty Carter receives Medal of Honor from President Obama

US President Barack Obama has presented the Medal of Honor to a soldier for heroism during a battle in Afghanistan that lasted more than six hours.

Army Staff Sgt Ty Carter, 33, saved a comrade and killed enemy fighters as his unit was ambushed.

Mr Obama also praised Sgt Carter's bravery off the battlefield, where he is dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder.
