Senator Ted Cruz evokes Nazis in healthcare fight
Republican Senator Ted Cruz held the Senate floor for more than 21 hours in a speech against President Barack Obama's healthcare reform law.
During his marathon talk, Sen Cruz compared the fight to undo or defund the measure to historic US struggles, including the Civil War, the fight against Nazi Germany and the Cold War.
He argued that pundits of the day had said each fight would be too difficult, much like the campaign to defund the healthcare law.
"Neville Chamberlain, who told the British people accept the Nazis..." Sen Cruz said. "Let's appease them. Why? Because it can't be done. We can't possibly stand against them.
"I suspect those same pundits who say it can't be done, if it had been in the 1940s, we would have been listening to them."
