Harry Reid on budget bill: 'This is it, time is gone'

Democratic Senate leader Harry Reid said on Friday that time had run out for Republicans to stall on passing a budget bill in their ongoing effort to defund President Barack Obama's health law, known as Obamacare.

The Senate passed a version of the spending bill without a provision defunding the healthcare law 54-44 on Friday.

If a budget bill is not passed by both houses of Congress and signed by Mr Obama, the government will shut down on 1 October and up to 2.1 million federal employees will be expected to stop work.
