Democrat and Republican voices on funding debate

The Republican-controlled US House of Representatives has passed an amended bill on government spending, against the wishes of the White House.

The amendment added cuts in funding for President Obama's healthcare reforms, in legislation designed to stop the government running out of money in the next few days.

But Democrats, who control the Senate, have said they will reject the bill and President Obama has promised to veto it.

Republican Jack Kingston and Democrat Marcy Kaptur gave their views before the House voted.
