John Kerry: 'Give Iran nuclear diplomacy a chance'
Secretary of State John Kerry has said that any new sanctions against Iran would risk ruining talks over Tehran's nuclear programme.
He said that such a move could be viewed as "bad faith" and "wind up setting us back in dialogue that has taken 30 years to be able to achieve".
"We're asking Congress to give the diplomacy they sought a chance to be able to work", he added.
Mr Kerry's comments came ahead of his appearance before the Senate banking committee. The panel has been considering a fresh package of sanctions but legislators are divided on the issue.
