Sterling's views have 'no place in the NBA'

National Basketball Association (NBA) Commissioner Adam Silver has banned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life and fined him $2.5m dollars after a recording emerged of him making racist remarks.

In a statement on Tuesday, Mr Silver said both the team owners and players "stand together in condemning Mr Sterling's views. They have no place in the NBA".

The NBA chief also said he "fully" expected "to get the support I need from the other NBA owners I need to remove him".
