Oklahoma execution: Medics 'tried to revive' inmate

An attorney has described the execution of an Oklahoma death row inmate on Tuesday as "horribly botched".

Clayton Lockett, 38, eventually died of a heart attack because the lethal injection of three drugs failed to work properly.

Madeline Cohen - who is the attorney for another inmate, Charles Warner, whose execution was postponed as a result of the incident - told the Today programme that medics tried to revive Lockett so he could be executed "on another day".

She added that "more information" must be provided about the drugs before further executions can take place.
