Yosemite National Park evacuated amid wildfire threat

About 100 hikers have been airlifted by helicopter after wildfires threatened parts of Yosemite National Park in California.

Some of the evacuees had climbed the park's iconic Half Dome peak, rising nearly 5,000 feet (1,524 metres) above Yosemite Valley, according to park officials.

While some tourists found it frightening, others welcomed it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
