The smokejumpers fighting forest fires in America

Meet a special team of firefighters called 'smokejumpers', who parachute from planes to tackle forest fires in America.

A drought has gripped western parts of the US for the past three years. The dry conditions make it easier for wildfires to start and destroy large areas of woodland.

The smokejumpers leap into the wilderness to get the blazes under control before it's too late.

It's a dangerous job and smokejumpers have to be highly trained.

Three smokejumpers - Ben Elkind, Gretchen Stumhofer and Luis Gomez - spoke to the BBC from their base in California.
