Syria crisis worsening daily says UN's Baroness Amos
"It gets worse every single day," says UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos describing the Syrian humanitarian crisis.
In her first BBC interview since announcing she will retire from her post in March, Ms Amos discussed the increasingly dire situation.
"Our donors are trying," she said. "They have given more money year on year, but the amount of money that we're asking for is much greater each and every year."
The funding shortage has forced the World Food Programme to suspend a critical food assistance program for 1.7 million Syrian refugees.
Amos spoke about the growing need for assistance to the BBC's Laura Trevelyan in New York.
