NY police shooting: Raphael Ramos's family appeal for peace

The family of a New York police officer fatally shot on Friday has appealed to the city's communities to "find an amicable path to peaceful co-existence".

Officer Raphael Ramos was killed with his colleague Liu Wenjin while on patrol in Brooklyn.

The gunman, Ismaaiyl Brinsley, had posted messages about the controversial shootings of unarmed black men Eric Garner and Michael Brown on social media accounts prior to the attack.

Officer Ramos's aunt, Lucy Ramos, said he would "always be loved and missed by many."
