New York mayor: Snowstorm will 'pack a real punch'

New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio has warned people not to underestimate the storm which is currently heading for the city and that they should prepare accordingly.

"People need to make smart decisions from this point on, careful decisions," he said.

The east coast of America is bracing itself for what could be its biggest ever snow storm.

Thousands of flights have been cancelled and New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts have all declared states of emergency.
