Visions of space on the 50th anniversary of the first spacewalk
On 18 March 1965, Soviet astronaut Alexei Leonov took the first spacewalk. Months later, the first American took the big leap.
Images from those first steps stirred the public imagination.
Now the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC has created an exhibit about the unique images and objects that brought us the first close up images of space.
