Putin and Obama due to meet to discuss Syria at UN

After years of disagreeing on how to respond to the conflict in Syria, there are signs that the US and Russia could be moving towards a compromise.

Barack Obama is due to hold talks on Syria with Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

David Cameron has insisted that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad "can't be part of the solution", but admitted that there may need to be a transition.
