US 'concerned' about reports of Israeli force

The US is "concerned" about reports that say Israeli security forces are using excessive force, John Kirby, spokesman for the State Department, has said.

Israeli forces have begun a major security operation in Arab areas of occupied East Jerusalem, after a surge in attacks by Palestinians.

Speaking to journalists, Mr Kirby said that the US routinely raised concerns about Israel's excessive use of force.
