Canada's Justin Trudeau: 'We're back'

Canada's new prime minister-elect has urged his supporters to keep working to build "a better Canada for everyone", at a victory rally in Ottawa.

The Liberal Party's Justin Trudeau thanked supporters and campaign staff but said the hard work of delivering their "positive" idea of their country had just begun.

Mr Trudeau also offered a message to international allies who may have thought the country had "lost its compassion" over the last 10 years.

"On behalf of 35 million Canadians, we're back," he said.
