Revenant director: Mexicans in US "invisible"

With 12 Oscar nominations, The Revenant leads the pack of this year's nominated films. Set in 1820s, frontier America, the film tells the story of a fur trapper's survival after he is mauled by a bear.

Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, the Mexican director of The Revenant, spoke about the gruelling process, and why he thinks it's more difficult for Mexicans in the US due to election politics.

He spoke to BBC Newsnight's Emily Maitlis about the "ignorant" and "irresponsible" comments used by political candidates like Donald Trump.
