Senator: Closing Gitmo would 'send wrong message' to world
President Barack Obama vowed once again on Tuesday to close the detention centre at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, saying he does not want to pass the problem on to the next commander-in-chief.
But with just months to go in office, Mr Obama will have a tough time overcoming resistance in the Republican-controlled Congress.
Senator John Barrasso calls Mr Obama's commitment to closing Guantanamo a "misguided obsession".
The Republican member of the Senate Foreign Relations committee says doing so would send the "wrong message" worldwide.
