Florida mermaid collects trash and breaks records

Merle Liivand, 'Mermaid Merle', as many call her, wanted to set her fifth Guinness World Record for swimming 30 miles (50km) around Biscayne Bay in Miami, Florida and collect trash.

In a report, the Florida Department of Environmental stated that the high level of debris in the bay was a threat to wildlife and public safety.
