Shouts of ‘shame’ as Arizona lawmakers spar over abortion ban
Lawmakers in the Arizona House of Representatives broke out in chants of "Shame on you!" on Wednesday after some Republicans shut down a plan to repeal a recently revived 1864 law criminalising abortion in the state.
The 160-year-old law - which predates Arizona becoming a US state - makes performing an abortion punishable by two to five years in prison, except when the mother's life is at risk.
