My Bottom Line: Barry Hearn, Professional Darts Corporation

Help

Barry Hearn is a sporting events promoter and chairman of the Professional Darts Corporation.

Barry played an integral role in the rebirth of darts as a lucrative, international professional sport.

It started when a group of disillusioned players broke away from the old darts league and formed a new league, which evolved into the Professional Darts Corporation.

The players approached Barry and appointed him as chairman. He helped build the league's infrastructure, selling TV rights and helping build the league into what he calls a 'soap opera sport' - a league filled with charismatic players who are compelling to sports fans around the world.

The league's success has drawn in more players - who are now full-time, professional darts players.
