Coronavirus: Labour challenges chancellor to apologise for lost jobs

Labour's shadow chancellor Anneliese Dodds has asked Rishi Sunak why he didn't act earlier, as he unveiled more support for workers in parts of England under tier two restrictions, in a statement to the House of Commons.

The chancellor announced changes to the Job Support Scheme (JSS) - set to replace furlough in November.

Under the revised scheme, employers will pay less and staff can work fewer hours before they qualify.
