    The pound has slipped following the industrial production data showing manufacturing output fell at the fastest pace in a year in July.  It's currently down 0.4% against the dollar at $1.33840.

    Despite its strong performance recently, sterling is still 10% weaker against the dollar than it was before the referendum and almost 9%  lower against the euro.

    The floating Monaco home of former BHS' owner has been tagged the "BHS Destroyer" in a comedy stunt.

    British manufacturing output fell in July at the fastest pace in a year, suggesting factories took an immediate hit after the vote to leave the European Union, according to official data.

    But overall industrial output rose thanks to strong oil and gas production, the Office for NationalStatistics said., external

    Output in manufacturing fell 0.9% following a 0.2% drop in June.

    But overall industrial output increased by 0.1% compared with the month before, and rose by 2.1% compared with July 2015.

    Amazon will start delivering meals from restaurants directly to customers in some parts of London, Reuters reports. 

    It will enter an increasingly crowded market, which already includes Deliveroo, Just Eat, and Uber. 

    Amazon said that its "Amazon Restaurants" service will be available to subscribers of its Prime delivery scheme and that delivery will be free for orders over £15.

    One is that despite the controversy, the firm has said it will continue to employ Mike Ashley’s daughter’s boyfriend to run its property arm.

    "As previously disclosed, our property team will continue to be led by Michael Murray and his remuneration will be decided at the board’s discretion," it says.

    London has again come top in a poll of global cities in terms of business opportunities, according to accountancy firm PwC, external.

    David Snell of PwC says the firm looked at ease of doing business, but also a broader range of measures ranging from "cultural vibrancy" to "preparedness for natural disasters".

    The FTSE 100 has got off to a lacklustre start and is currently flat at 6,825.95. 

    Payments processing firm Worldpay is the biggest loser. Shares in the firm have fallen 3.5% after its biggest investor sold part of its stake. 

    On the upside, equipment hire group Ashtead's shares are up 4.8% making it top of the FTSE. The rise comes after the company said it expected its full year results to be better than forecast.

    Annual house price growth eased to 6.9% in August, continuing the downward trend since March, according to the Halifax, the UK's largest mortgage lender.

    Sports Direct shares have fallen sharply in early trading, currently down 8% at 320.8p following its downbeat profit forecast released earlier, external.

    The retailer said underlying earnings in 2017 were expected to be “in the region of £300m”. This would represent a fall of over 20% compared to the year to 24 April, when underlying Ebitda came in at £381.4m.
