  1. Day 1 - Question 4published at 12:59 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2024

Charlie’s getting lots of help from listeners and viewers - and this hour he decided to merge questions from several people to ask Santa ‘is it something to do with vehicles?’.

Sadly Santa’s response was a little ambiguous but Charlie decided it was a ‘no’.

  2. What's that on Charlie's desk?published at 12:16 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2024

Not only is Charlie locked in Santa's lodge - but so is his phone!

We've put his phone under lock and key too - so he can't check any maps on it.

We've even turned the WiFi off on his laptop so there's no chance a WiFi network can give anything away!

  3. Day 1 - Question 3published at 11:57 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2024

Two listeners posed the same question - and Charlie couldn't resist putting it to Santa!

Both Peter in Ilminster and Carol in TA2 asked 'is it a Christmas tree wrapping machine?'.

Sadly for them and Charlie, Santa's response was simply 'no, that's not it!'.

  4. Day 1 - Question 2published at 11:15 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2024

Charlie has put the second question to Santa - and this time his response was 'ho ho ho, yes'.

Al in Aberdare was the listener who made the suggestion which Charlie picked this time around - and the question was 'Is it Christmas related?'.

  5. Where's Charlie gone?published at 10:24 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2024

Don't worry - we've not let Charlie escape the lodge already!

He's just having a shower after a stressful(!) morning and you'll see him back on the camera soon.

  6. Day 1 - Question 1published at 10:16 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2024

Charlie's used his first of five chances to free himself today - and it has edged him closer to getting out of the lodge.

The first question he chose to put to Santa was suggested by Andy in Minehead.

Andy posed the question 'is the sound within 5 miles of the coast?' and Santa's response was 'No - you're not even close!'.

So while it wasn't a correct answer, Charlie knows the sound was recorded more than 5 miles away from the Somerset coastline.

BBC Radio Somerset's Charlie Taylor now knows the challenge ahead!

He's been locked in Santa's lodge - and needs to try and get on Santa's good list by working out a mystery sound and where it was recorded. Only then will his Christmas be saved and he'll be released from the lodge.

The first chance to hear the sound will be just after 09:00.

  9. Hello - and welcome to Charlie Taylor's Christmas challengepublished at 08:02 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2024

BBC Radio Somerset’s Charlie Taylor is playing the final game of Sound of the County with listeners.

But this time, Charlie is being locked in a lodge – and his only escape is by completing the ‘Locked in at Christmas’ challenge with the help of his listeners.

Each day, he’ll get five chances to ask questions about what the mystery sound is, and where it was recorded. He can only ask yes/no questions. If he doesn’t get the right answer at the end of the five guesses he’s stuck in the lodge for the night.

The next day, he gets five more chances. And he’ll be staying in there until he gets the right answer!

You’ll be able to watch Charlie inside the lodge and listen to BBC Radio Somerset at the time by clicking watch liveat the top of this page.
