    He says a family member of Tyler Robinson reached out to a family friend, who then contacted a Sheriff with information that Robinson had confessed or implied he had committed the incident.

    At BBC Verify we've been digging into social media accounts associated with Tyler Robinson, who has been named as the suspect in the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

    One Facebook profile that we believe belongs to his mother - which she now appears to be clearing of images of Tyler - suggests the family comes from Cedar City in Utah, around three hours drive from the Utah Valley University where the shooting took place.

    Her account reveals numerous details about the family's life and includes photos of trips they made - some of which appear to have included visits to gun ranges.

    Other posts on her profile reveal that Tyler Robinson attended Pineview Middle School. In 2022, he moved to the city of Logan to attended Utah State University - about two hours drive from Utah Valley University.

    We're still searching for any profiles that belong to Tyler and will bring you more information as we get it.

    Two sources told the BBC's US partner, CBS, that Robinson resides in Southern Utah and apparently confessed to his father.

    If you're just joining us, US President Donald Trump has shared a flurry of key updates on the investigation into the killing of Charlie Kirk.

    Let's take a look at the key lines:

    On the suspect

    "I think with a high degree of certainty we have him in custody," Trump said in an interview on Fox & Friends. The president later said the suspect is "28 or 29".

    On how the suspect was found

    Trump said "someone very close" to the suspect turned him in. He then shared further details on how that person went to the suspect's father, who then went to a US Marshal.

    "The father convinced the son," Trump said.

    On a future trial

    Trump urged for a speedy trial and expressed hopes that the killer will get the death penalty.

    On Charlie Kirk

    The president said Kirk was "talented" and likened him to "a son".

    Kirk was a voice for young people and "it is a shame that voice has been silenced," he added.

    What we don't know

    When sharing the updates, Trump warned he had learnt about the arrest "five minutes before".

    He did not share the identity of the suspect and clarified more details surrounding the circumstances around their arrest will be released in due time.

    The suspect in the killing of Charlie Kirk is "28 or 29" according to Trump, who is still speaking to Fox News.

    Previously, authorities had said the person of interest was "of college age".

    As we've been reporting, Trump told Fox "someone very close" to the suspect turned him in. He then gives more details.

    Trump says that person went to "the father", who went to a US Marshal - "who was fantastic by the way".

    Trump says the "person" - presumably the person who recognised the suspect - was a "person of faith, a minister".

    "The father convinced the son," Trump says.

    Trump says he may need to be corrected, but he's talking "based on what I'm hearing".

    Asked to clarify, Trump says the father, "namely his father", got involved, and said "we've got to go in".

    "They drove into the police headquarters, and he's there now."

    US representative Nancy Mace says she will introduce a resolution to Congress to authorise Charlie Kirk to "lie in honour" in the Capitol Rotunda - a grand circular room in the US Capitol.

    "He inspired millions, led countless souls to Christ, and never wavered in defense of the First Amendment. Such a legacy makes him uniquely worthy of this distinction," the lawmaker writes on X.

    To lie in state in the Rotunda means people will be able to visit Kirk's casket to pay their respects, for a period of time determined by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the president.
