  2. Hikers looking for peaceful walk up Malvern Hillspublished at 10:49 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

    Matt Hutchinson
    Reporter, BBC Hereford and Worcester

Rosemary Halligan and her friend Pam O'Brien have decided to go for a hike up the snow-covered Malvern Hills today.

They're both from Ireland originally, but moved to Malvern and say they love the quiet up there.

Pam said: "It's a beautiful day, the sun is shining, and got to get out."

She accepted it was likely to be a bit icy, but said they were "dressed for the occasion".

"The hills are beautiful in any weather and we haven't had snow for so long," she added.

Two women, one in a green coat and the other in a red coat, both wearing hats and scarves, standing in a high street with snow on the hills behind them

Rosemary said they both liked the hills, because they reminded them that "life is good".

"It's beautiful, you get the quietness you get all the elements," she said.

"You get the chance to breathe in life and get away from it all."

Gritters with snow ploughs have been called to the scene of a crash in Telford this morning.

It happened on Rampart Way in the town centre, close to junction five of the M54 and traffic is reported to be coping well.

West Mercia Police said the crash appeared to have been caused by the weather conditions.

  6. No more snow forecast... for nowpublished at 10:12 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

You might be wondering if you're going to wake up to more snow tomorrow morning and the answer at the moment appears to be "probably not".

Looking at the BBC Weather forecasts for tonight, it's expected to be really cold again, possibly as low as -3C (27F) but it's also going to be a clear night for most of us.

Of course, that does mean the roads are likely to be icy again in the morning, but the Met Office, external does not have any weather warnings for our part of the country tomorrow.

  8. More than 40 schools closed or partially closedpublished at 09:46 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

The list of school closures this morning is not quite as long as it was yesterday.

And its noticeable that they're focused in different parts of the region.

Yesterday the closures were mainly around the Shropshire and Worcestershire council areas, but this morning the vast majority are in Telford & Wrekin.

There are 29 schools closed there and another opening later in the morning.

Here are the others announced so far.

    • Shropshire has 13 schools closed and two partially shut who are asking for parents to send their children with packed lunches
    • Herefordshire has one school closed and one closing early
    • Worcestershire has two schools closed and one opening late
    • Warwickshire has one school closed
    • Staffordshire has three schools closed and one closed to reception and year one

In most cases the reasons for the closure are given as unsafe travelling conditions, but in other cases it has been a lack of hot water, a shortage of staff or problems powering the kitchens.

  9. Snow delays Santa's new sleighpublished at 09:32 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

It's not just cars that have been struggling in the snow today - Santa's new sleigh has been held up too.

Shrewsbury Rotary Club had hoped to bring him into the town this evening on a high-tech sleigh, for the annual Christmas lights switch-on ceremony

But it said the snow had made it unsafe to test out his new vehicle ahead of his big appearance and he would instead be appearing in an older, borrowed sleigh at the bottom of Pride Hill.

“We apologise to enthusiasts for any disappointment this will cause,” said Santa. “But Rudolph wisely took the decision that under the circumstances we shouldn’t make the trip in the new sleigh for safety reasons.”

  10. Full team of gritters were out last nightpublished at 09:21 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

    BBC Hereford and Worcester

Ben Sparrow from Worcestershire Council says all of their gritter drivers were out yesterday evening, treating the roads.

He said they were likely to go out again today, after a break between shifts.

Ed Bradford from Herefordshire Council said his authority had a full stock of grit for treating the roads and would be out again to cover about 600 miles of their "priority roads".

But that leaves many minor and side roads untreated, and even roads that have been salted could still be slippery, he warned.

  11. What's happening elsewhere?published at 09:11 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

    BBC News

The West Midlands isn't the only region to be affected by snow this morning.

There's some train disruption in north Wales and very chilly temperatures in Powys.

You can get updates from across the UK here.

  12. Weather Watchers staying in touchpublished at 09:04 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

Thanks for all the pictures you've sent to BBC Weather Watchers this morning.

The area around Leek in Staffordshire has sunny skies after the latest snowfall, as we can see from Mr Twister:

  14. Highways officials: slow downpublished at 08:45 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

Local authorities say they have been treating roads through last night and the early hours, but with fresh snow falling on top, some streets remain slippery.

Ben Sparrow from Worcestershire County Council said: "With it going down to minus three... it's going to be pretty treacherous in places, especially on untreated surfaces and side roads."

Head of highways at neighbouring Herefordshire Council, Ed Bradford, told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "Another cold day is expected... road surface temperatures will remain below freezing for the next 24 hours".

He added: "We're always on standby from the start of the winter season.. the [gritter] drivers were ready to go and the salt barns full, so we were prepared for this."

  15. Another road slowed by an accidentpublished at 08:31 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

In Coventry, there's been a shunt on the A4600 Walsgrave Road - it's partially blocked westbound with slow traffic due to debris on road near the A428 Sky Blue Way.

  16. Traffic slow on the roadspublished at 08:21 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

We've not yet seen any major road closures, but there are lots of reports of slow-moving traffic and some of it at a standstill because of the snow this morning.

The A5 at Cannock has slow traffic after an accident near the A4061 Wolverhampton Road.

In Shropshire on the A41, traffic information provider Inrix said the road was "just passable" near Newport because of the snow.

It's generally busy around Telford, and there has been a collision on the Wharfage in Ironbridge.

National Highways has repeated its warning of icy conditions and is urging drivers to allow extra time for their journeys this morning.

This was the queuing traffic in Walsall a short time ago.

    Chris Blakemore
    BBC Radio WM

Traffic is very heavy in Walsall, and conditions very tricky. I’ve driven down Longwood Lane and there are cars queuing along the length of the road. Also slow on the A34 Birmingham Road heading to junction 7 of the M6 as drivers exercise caution.

Brockhampton Primary in Herefordshire is asking parents to collect their children at midday today.

And Hednesford Valley High School has been added to the list of closures in Staffordshire.

  19. First school closures of the morningpublished at 07:37 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November
