  1. Ambulance service urges drivers to be carefulpublished at 07:31 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

The advice from both National Highways and West Midlands Ambulance Service this morning is to be extra careful on the roads.

The ambulance service suggests you clear your windscreen, side windows and lights before setting off, keep a good distance from the car in front and stay on major roads as much as possible.

Temperatures dropped below freezing overnight, so there will be some ice around.

  2. No widespread travel disruption yetpublished at 07:23 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

The blockage on the Shrewsbury to Wrexham line at Ruabon is likely to affect services until 08:00, but aside from that there are no problems reported on the railways this morning.

And we've not yet seen any major problems on the roads. Gritters have been out again overnight, but with fresh snowfall since, and ice already on untreated roads, care will be needed.

  3. Some Shropshire roads "treacherous"published at 07:17 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

    Tom Warren
    BBC News

I’ve just driven out of Meole Brace, Shrewsbury, to Wellington railway station. Roads in both towns are treacherous and I saw cars sliding on several roads as drivers turned around bends. There’s been fresh snowfall in this part of Shropshire and it looks likely travel will be difficult through the morning rush hour. The A5 was moving OK shortly before 7am, but nearly all the roads I drove along on my journey other than the dual carriageway were slippery.

  5. No school closures reported yetpublished at 07:04 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

It's still early days, but right now we have no notices of school closures as a result of the snow and ice.

Bridgtown Primary School in Cannock will be closed to reception and Year One pupils though, because of heating problems.

It's something we'll update you on again later, because yesterday a number of schools took the decision to close later in the morning.

  6. Warning of icy conditions from Met Officepublished at 06:58 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November

This morning, the Met Office has a warning of icy conditions for most of us, but there is also a warning of snow in Herefordshire and south Shropshire.

It says some roads and rail routes could be affected and that you should be extra careful if you're going out today.
