In the words of Eurovision, hello from Stroud!

The sports hall at Active Lifestyles – formerly Stratford Park – has been transformed in to the district’s count HQ.

The verification of ballots isn’t set to start until 10.30, but a few count staff are here already.

Of course, normal business is still taking place today, and I’ve seen lots of curious swimmers poking their heads over the balcony to take a peak at the set-up.

    Cheeserolling

More than 70% of Gloucestershire residents' council tax goes to the county council.

All 55 seats are up for the taking and any party that gets 28 will lead the authority.

The Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, Labour, The Green Party and Reform all have sitting councillors and will be hoping to run it.

Whoever does will have a big say on Gloucestershire goings-on.

    Stonehenge

All of Wiltshire Council's 98 seats were up for grabs, alongside 308 seats on the county's smaller parish and town councils, including in Salisbury.

Since its creation in 2009, Wiltshire Council has been dominated by comfortable Conservative majorities, but the main parties are anticipating a tighter race this year.

With so many positions available, Wiltshire is thought to have the highest number of individual elections of any county in England in 2025.
