SDLP sources predicting Colum Eastwood will retain his Foyle seat with a much reduced majority.

Its thought he certainly won't match the stunning display of 2019 when he secured a majority of 17,110.

2019 was always seen as a so called mood election when Colum Eastwood capitalised on the strong anti Brexit sentiment in Foyle and Unionist tactical voting to keep Sinn Fein from retaining the seat.

    Brendan Hughes
    BBC News NI political reporter

Gavin Robinson is set to retain his seat, preventing a difficult election night for the Democratic Unionist Party turning into a crisis.

If the DUP leader had lost Belfast East, the party would be facing a serious dilemma over his future.

There were suggestions he may have been awkwardly co-opted into a Stormont seat vacated by a willing party colleague.

But instead Robinson has once again fended off a challenge from Alliance Party leader Naomi Long.

In their protracted battle for this seat, round four between the pair may be their final match-up.
