  1. Your Questions Answered

Who won what in the last election?published at 00:34 British Summer Time 5 July

In the 2019 general election, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough elected seven MPs. All of them, except for Cambridge, were Conservative. Cambridge returned a Labour MP.

This time around the county will elect eight MPs. A new constituency of St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire has been created and, because of this, the surrounding constituencies have experienced its ripple effects.

Owing to the boundary changes it would be difficult to compare some of the old constituencies with the new ones, even if the seats have the same name.

  2. Analysis

What are the issues in Cambridgeshire?published at 00:33 British Summer Time 5 July

The general election campaign has been fought on both local and national issues in Cambridgeshire.

When it comes to local issues, housing, transport and the effects on the environment were some of the key topics on which candidates campaigned.

During the BBC debate between parliamentary candidates for St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire, there were passionate discussions about plans to build a busway through Coton Orchard near Cambridge.

In South Cambridgeshire, plans to build East West Rail, which would link Cambridge to Cambourne, Bedford and Oxford were repeatedly raised.

In Huntingdon there were discussions over the town not receiving the same level of funding as Cambridge and its surrounding areas. In the Fenland the subject of the proposed Wisbech incinerator was at the forefront of many people’s minds.

Hello and welcome to Wisbech where counting is taking place for the North East Cambridgeshire constituency.

Ballot boxes are arriving from about 55 polling stations in the constituency that includes the main towns of Chatteris, March and Wisbech.

There are also a couple of local council by-elections to count, but they are very much the bridesmaids for the main event.

We're expecting a declaration here based on previous elections sometime between 04:00 and 05:00 as the sun comes up, and the remaining sandwiches curl up.

The last of the ballot boxes has arrived for the Huntingdon count, with staff running up the stairs to deliver the final few boxes at St Ives One Leisure.

Most of the candidates have arrived. One candidate told me they were "very tired" while another said it had been a "surprising" few weeks of campaigning.

With results expected at 03:15 for the Huntingdon constituency, it's going to be a long night.
