A pharmacist from Patchway, he says it’s an “absolute honour to be selected” and he “cannot wait” to get to work.
Liam Fox looked emotional as his 32 year reign came to an end and said "that's how it goes in politics".

BreakingLiam Fox, who has held several cabinet roles, has narrowly lost North Somerset to Labour.
Labour's Sadik Adam Al-Hassan won 19,138 votes to Fox's 18,499.

The former North East Somerset MP Jacob Rees-Mogg has spoken to the BBC after he lost his bid to become the MP for North East Somerset and Hanham.
He said the fate of elected MPs depended on the popularity of their party leaders, and that the votes he received in his previous election was down to the popularity of former leader, Boris Johnson.
He still plans to be a prominent figure in the local community, saying he will open the Clutton Flower Show in August.

Former Filton and Bradley Stoke MP Jack Lopresti has said the Conservative party "needs to learn the lessons" from this election.
"We need to be humble, we need to take the message, the British people get it right every single time," he said.
He has been replaced by the new Labour MP Claire Hazelgrove.

Asserting that it was bad for democracy that people had lost faith in politics.

His mum cried as she congratulated her son, saying she is "so proud" of him.
He has told us he couldn't have won the seat without his family's support.

Thangam Debbonaire said representing Bristol had been an “incredible honour”.
She congratulated Carla Denyer on her win and said: "People who have put their trust in you will come to see what a great job you're about to do.
"Across the country, people have voted for a Labour government and I couldn't be prouder of my part in seeing that happen."

Claire Hazelgrove, Labour candidate for Filton and Bradley Stoke, gained the seat with 22,905 votes.
Jack Lopresti, Conservative candidate, who held the seat previously, received 12,905 votes.
Stephen Burge, candidate for Reform, received 6,890 votes and Benet Allen, Lib Dem candidate, 3,596 votes.

Giving her victory speech, the new Bristol Central MP Carla Denyer said she "can't wait to get started".
She won the seat off Labour's Thangam Debbonaire.
"Bristol, you've made history. Together we elected our city's first Green MP," she said.
She added: "This incredible city has long had my heart, and the warmth and positivity I have felt through this campaign has been truly humbling.
"I feel so privileged to have this opportunity to serve you and ensure that the real hope that inspired so many people to vote Green is represented in Parliament.
"I can't wait to get started."
