Here at Truro College, there has been a real sea change in Cornish politics as the two seats counted here both went to Labour.

Truro & Falmouth are now represented by Jayne Kirkham, beating Conservative Cherilyn Mackrory by more than 8,000 votes.

In St Austell & Newquay, there was a big swing to Labour as Steve Double lost his seat to Noah Law, who said afterwards that “something big has happened in Cornish politics”.

Steve Double blamed Reform UK for splitting the votes, with the Nigel Farage party candidate in St Austell & Newquay polling more than 9,000 votes.

While it was good for the Liberal Democrats in St Ives, there was disappointment for the Lib Dems in both seats counted here, with the turnout down in both.
