  2. Labour earn one more vote than Tories and Reform combinedpublished at 03:44 British Summer Time 5 July

    Rebecca Dickson
    Reporter, BBC Radio Nottingham

There has been some talk of Reform candidates around the country taking votes away from Conservative candidates, but it appears it wouldn't have mattered in Broxtowe.

Juliet Campbell earned 19,561 votes, with incumbent Darren Henry earning 11,158 for the Tories and Reform's Joseph Oakley attracting support from 8,402 constituents.

If the right-wing parties' votes were added together, it would still leave them one short of the winning total.

    Hugh Casswell
    Political reporter, BBC Radio Nottingham

Lee Anderson says there has been a "seismic reckoning" in Ashfield and across the country.

Speaking to reporters shortly after his victory, the Reform UK MP said people have "had enough of the two main parties."

"Nigel [Farage] said there's going to be a reckoning on election night... Reform are picking up seats tonight, make no bones about it. Next week I'll be on the green benches with Nigel and a few others and we're gonna give them hell," he said.

The former deputy chair of the Conservative Party said he doesn't regret being suspended by the Tories.

"Politics isn't that complicated. Listen to what they're saying on the doorstep, in the pubs and the shops, then go down to that place in London and tell them what they're saying."

He added he intends to continue presenting on GB News.

  8. Lee Anderson: 'No-brainer' to stand for Reformpublished at 03:13 British Summer Time 5 July

    BBC Radio Nottingham

Lee Anderson said it was "a no-brainer" to stand for the Reform party after he became the first person to be elected to represent them in Parliament.

He made the switch to the party from the Conservatives back in March, and will continue as MP for Ashfield.

After the results were confirmed, he said he will represent local people's concerns on a national level.

"The people of Ashfield want change - they want Parliament, they want Westminster to listen to them," he said.

"The two main parties of this country do not listen to the people of Ashfield, and other places like this around the country, but they're going to listen now."

Frank Ward, who's standing for them in Bassetlaw, would become the oldest person to enter Parliament if he's successful.

“The Reform eagle has landed across Britain," he said.
